Chad Hymas was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in a unique house hold where mom was a devout Catholic, and dad a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is a seminary graduate and also served an honorable mission to Bankok, Thailand. After returning home from his mission he married his high school sweetheart, who yes indeed did wait for him. He and Shondell have 3 children. Chad served in the Jordan River Temple with his wife for 5 years prior to his accident. Before and after his accident he also served on the high council for ten years. Chad has served in a bishopric, elders quorum presidency, stake missionary and High Priest Group Leader. Chad is the author of the best selling book, “Doing What Must Be Done.” He enjoys quad rugby, reading, teaching, music, serving and most of all spending time with his family.
As strong as Chad was mentally, and as strong in the church as he believed he was, when he was truly tested he failed in the beginning. Chad is known for saying, “The Lord isn’t going to care what your titles were, or what positions and accolades you’ve held. However, He will ask you : did you truly strive to demonstrate your discipleship and live your life like your Savior did?
“Many Are Called, Few Are Chosen”
Matthew 22:14 tells us “Many are called but few are chosen”. Many people hear the call of God, but only the “few” will respond because they are the ones who are truly hearing. Many are called or invited into the kingdom, but none are able to come on their own. God must draw the hearts of those who come, otherwise they will not.
Will you be among the chosen? Will the choices you make allow you that opportunity?
Chad made a choice 11 years ago that impacted not only his life but everyone around him. The choices that you make not only affect you but your parents, family, friends, and loved ones.
How do we become more Christ like? What will you do when someone needs a helping hand? Will YOU get out of your seat? Will you be a Good Samaritan? Will you feel compassion for your fellow man?
Chad will help your youth realize the impact that their choices will have on the rest of their lives and others lives around them. They will understand the importance of loving one another and serving others. They will learn that it never was about them anyway.
Chad would love to be a part of your fireside, youth conference, or girls camp!
